Norcott Campsite - Micro Campsite Set In The Chiltern Hills - On Berkhamsted Common

This amazing small campsite is close to Northchurch common, & Ashridge. Berkhamsted & Northchurch commons are the largest in the Chilterns at some 427 hectares. Northchurch common is one of the five commons found on the National Trust's Ashridge Estate. Berkhamsted Golf Course is on the southern part of Berkhamsted Common. Groups of fallow deer can often be seen in the glades and other open areas. We are close to Berkhamsted (east) and Tring (west). Either can be got to walking along the canal tow path.

Dudswell is 10mins walk away

Ashridge Estate

Ashridge is a great place for a walk in the most beautiful woods , especially at bluebell time . Its an amazing sight , there is a tea room there which sells good cakes , coffee ,snacks and sometimes aBBQ. It does get very busy but its worth the wait . There are many walks and things of interest around the area as well . A great place for a picnic and relaxing .

Berkhamsted Castle

The remains of the castle may not amount to much but the area is well signposted and contains enough information for those interested in the historical aspect. On a nice day families with young children can appreciate the space and picnics are a regularly seen element here. Worth a look. 35min walk along the canal from the campsite

Albury Village

The village is clustered around the village pond and green which includes some old stocks with whipping post. The stocks were last used in 1835 to punish a drunken villager. There are a number of fine old buildings both large and small in the village. There are two lovely pubs that do a fantastic roast. Definitely worth a visit. There is a lovely walk across the woods and fields takes about half an hour from the campsite.
